FAQs

Why do I need a nurse health coach?

Achieving optimal health may sound easy, but it’s often a web of confusion and misinformation. Are we supposed to avoid carbs or are they good for us? Are we supposed to be vegan or paleo or keto or carnivore? Do I really need 64 oz of water and 10,000 steps every day? Working with a nurse health coach can clear out the health media clutter to create a plan that works for your individual needs. Plus, it’s hard to go it alone. Having someone to help motivate you, celebrate your achievements and encourage you along your journey is just the support you need to keep you on track when life throws a curveball your way.

Why is there a 6 month commitment?

Optimal health is not achieved overnight. Learning new habits takes time. How many times have you started a diet plan, workout routine or set goals only to fall off the wagon after a few days or weeks? There’s a reason gyms fill with new members in January and then empty out by March. We all have good intentions, but creating a new routine is difficult. This is when a nurse health coach steps in and keeps you on track until you’re set in your routine and you start seeing results.

What happens after 6 months?

Once your 6 months are complete, the next step is up to you. You can walk away with your new knowledge and routines, and enjoy life. Or if you decide you need some more one-on-one time, you can sign up on a monthly basis, or select a new plan that suits your needs. It’s completely your call based on how you’re feeling and how confident you are about reaching long term goals.

Why do I need a health coach when I’m taking a GLP-1 (or other weight loss medication)?

That might be the most important time! GLP-1 agonists such as semaglutide (Wegovy & Ozempic) or tirzepatide (Mounjaro & Zepbound) are an effective way to lose weight, but not all that weight loss is simply fat loss. Individuals on these types of medications need coaches to ensure they’re getting the nutrients they need to limit muscle loss or deficiencies, as well as help to reduce the unpleasant side effects. Studies show that individuals lose more weight when combining GLP-1s with diet and exercise. Sounds like the perfect time to snag yourself a nurse health coach!

Is health coaching for everyone?

No, it's not. Some people are not ready to make the commitment to change. That's OK! Let’s face it, change is hard – very hard! Individuals need to be mentally prepared for the challenges required to reach their goals. If you’re not quite there yet, no worries! We’ll be here when you’re ready.

Do I need to buy a bunch of special food?

Not necessarily. If your goal is to reduce your salt or sugar intake, increase the number of plants in your diet or lose weight, then you may see a shift in the food items in your grocery cart. This can be done slowly over time though. That being said, if you’re considering health coaching you may want to stop buying the foods you’d like to avoid (or at least don’t buy them in bulk).
